Before viewing women from the feminine side, women are humans at the first place therefore they had their marks through history for being mothers, housewives, sisters and daughters.
Women in Syria have always played an essential role in building and developing the society.
Women's economical duties started in administrating their own family's budgets. Their role gradually turned to reach a higher level and women nowadays play a vital role in developing society's economics. As well as their services to the society women never forgot the major duty of rising educated generations.
The General Women Union of Syria was established after the March 8 revolution, the union gave women an important role in building and developing different aspects of the society. It was not until the corrective revolution of 1970 led by President Hafez Al Assad that women participated in political issues and started to take decisions and perform political administrative duties through memberships in both the legislative and executive branches of the government.
Under the policy of development and modernization led by President Bashar Al Assad women remained in their position enhancing society development. President Bashar's policy was supportive to women; the president described women as being the real half of the society, and credited women for rising future generations , and orienting men and women how are capable of developing the country.
Under the presidency of Bashar Al Assad women's roles in society development grew, women where able to participate in any political issue. With continuous aid women where able to run vital tasks in the government such as being the county's vice president.
President Bashar realized the importance of women in supporting the country's economics which made him establish committees for businesswomen in both chambers of industry and commerce under the supervision and leadership of Syria's First Lady Asma Al Assad.
Since establishing the Committee of Businesswomen in Aleppo members have been doing their best to the country with the aim of mobilizing women within a single organization for a more effective and fuller role in social and economic development, seeking to satisfy the will of both the President and the First Lady, who are doing their best to build the developed modern Syria.
This website is made for every single woman in Syria; the 8th of each month will count as a beginning of a new month to keep the memory of the 8th of March as a day for Arab women.
Through our website we are trying to send a message to women all over the country to participate with us in building modern Syria.
