Aleppo Businesswomen Delegation to Izmir and Istanbul

The committee left Aleppo towards Izmir on 9/6/2007. The Syrian delegation visited the Chamber of Commerce in Izmir, where Mrs. Ashrfya gave a speech about the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce and the Aleppo businesswomen committee.

The Syrian businesswomen met Turkish members of the chamber and noticed the absence of a special Turkish foundation for businesswomen.

The 12 Turkish ladies in the chamber where unregistered, but they worked in different domains (Girisimci Kadinlri & Destekleme Projesi).

During the meetings Turkish ladies agreed to participate in exhibitions in Aleppo. The delegation also got some samples of Turkish products and showed a will to cooperate with the Turks. The Turkish ladies also gave a lecture about the cities of Izmir and Istanbul before inviting the Syrian delegation for a lunch party.

On 13/6/2007 Syrian businesswomen went to visit the Chamber of Commerce in Istanbul, the visit started with a business lunch with members from the Istambul Chamber, Mr. Shaban Keleg and

Mr. Sayed Deglesh,

Mr. Shaban spoke about his will to cooperate with Aleppo and about his previous visit to the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce.

In Aleppo Mr. Shaban met Mr. Mallah, Chairman of the Chamber, and other members in the chamber he was not so pleased because of the delay of activating the Syrian / Turkish participation agreement.

He said that both chambers of commerce and industry in Aleppo did not respond to the Turkish invitation to the Hanover Exhibition.

The Syrians explained to their Turkish counterparts that the reason for not responding to the offer was out of their hands, Syria at that time was busy with elections for the new People's Association and in electing Dr. Bashar Al Assad for a new presidential term.

Therefore economical activities where on hold but Aleppo has always been interested in cooperating with Turkey.

During the visit to Istanbul Syrian businesswomen met with a group of Turkish businesswomen forming the KAGIDER Group.

The group consists of 10 businesswomen specialized in different domains (pharmacy, engineering …) the group was interested in participating in exhibitions held in Syrian and in cooperating with Syrian businesswomen.

Syrian and Turkish businesswomen thought about starting a joint cooperation project to establish a common exhibition between Syria and Turkey to demonstrate products of both countries.

The Turkish businesswomen welcomed the idea and wanted to support it and turn it into reality; they asked the Syrians to send the project's idea directly to the chamber of Istanbul so it could be studied seriously and applied.

The visit to Turkey was ended on 15/6/2007 both sides exchanged gifts and brochures, and Mrs. Lena thanked the Turks on behalf of the Aleppo businesswomen committee for their kindness and cooperation.
